Printing

Black and white laser printers are located in each computer pool. The accounting of printing costs is linked to the Retina account.

Possibilities of printer usage

Available formats

The printers installed in the pool rooms P1-01-108, C1-03-430 and IRF-111 offer:

  • Printing on A4 paper
  • black and white printing
  • double-sided printing

You can also use Adobe Acrobat printer drivers (Acrobat PDFWriter and Acrobat Distiller) to create files in PDF format. Since printing documents with the help of these printer drivers is not done on a real printer, but only files are generated, this is of course free of charge.

Printing process

Printing documents is done from the respective application by selecting Print ... from the menu bar under File . Here you can then select the desired printer in the Name field. The location of the printer is indicated together with the name. The Properties ... button to the right of the printer name takes you to a submenu where you can make settings for duplex printing (Print on Both Sides) or album printing (Pages per Sheet) as well as for print quality, paper size, etc. for the respective printer.

You can check whether your print job has arrived at the printer by selecting the Printers item in the Settings entry in the Start menu . Here you will find a list of available printers, for which you can view the respective printer queue by double-clicking on the corresponding icon. All print jobs arriving at a printer are queued in these printer queues, i.e. you can also check here when it is your print job's turn.

Restrictions

Please note that the maximum size of print jobs is limited by the Print Manager to 100 pages , i.e. all print jobs exceeding this limit will be rejected by the Print Manager, i.e. not queued and therefore not counted as printed. To be able to print documents that exceed the page limit, you have to distribute the printing over several jobs by first printing the first, then the second (third, etc.) part of the document. To do this, you can usually specify page ranges (from: x; to: y) to be printed in the print menu of the respective program.

Print credit

Start credit

At the start of their studies, each Retina user will be credited with a one-time printing credit of €1.50 by the department. With this credit, for example, 50 pages can be printed on one side.

Recharging the credit

The credit can be topped up during the office hours of the print team at the ETIT student council.
